How the Matching Actually Works
No bidding platform, no auction, no commission on your order. One RFQ from you, a short list of shops that can physically take the part, and then you deal with them directly.
The three steps
You send one RFQ
Envelope, finished weight, material, quantity, the tolerance that matters and when you need it. A model and a drawing if you have them. About five minutes.
We read it and match
We check the part against what shops can physically take, then send a short preview to the ones that fit. You hear from us within 24 business hours.
Shops quote you directly
Up to 3 shops contact you with quotes. You compare, negotiate and place the order with the shop. Nothing passes through us.
What we check before matching
In this order, because each one can end the exercise in a minute. This is capability matching, not a popularity contest, and no shop can pay to skip a step.
- Envelope against travelWith fixture and tool stack allowed for, not the machine's headline size.
- Weight against rated loadAt the load a shop would accept for your tolerance, not the maximum on the plate.
- Crane and accessCapacity in the bay with that machine, hook height, and the door the part leaves through.
- Spindle and reachWhether the features can be cut, including deep bores and vertical faces.
- Process stepsWelding, stress relief oven size, heat treatment, grinding, painting, balancing, in house or partnered.
- RegionWhere you asked for, because freight on a heavy part is a real share of the landed price.
What a shop sees, and when
Your drawing is not broadcast. Shops decide from a preview that carries no identity, and your files are released only after a shop commits to the request.
If you tick the NDA box on the RFQ form, nothing but the preview moves until the shop has signed an NDA with you.
Where the money comes from
Worth being blunt about, because it explains every other decision on this site.
Shops pay us for matched requests. Buyers pay nothing. We take no commission on the order, we never see the invoice, and we have no reason to push you towards an expensive shop rather than a suitable one.
It also means we lose money by sending a shop a request it cannot use, which is why the capability checks above are strict.
- Free for buyersSending an RFQ and receiving quotes costs nothing, ever.
- No commissionThe order is between you and the shop. We are not a party to it.
- No markupThe price the shop quotes you is the shop's price.
- No exclusivityYou can use a shop we matched for the next part without us. That is the point.
Questions about the process
Anything else, email and a person answers.
What does it cost a buyer?
Nothing. Sending an RFQ and receiving quotes is free. Shops pay us for matched requests, and that is the only money we take. We do not take a commission on the order and we do not mark up the shop price.
Do you ever quote the part yourselves?
No. We are a matching service, not a machine shop. We own no machines and we do not sit between you and the shop on the order. The shop quotes you, you order from the shop, and the contract is between the two of you.
What if no shop fits?
We tell you plainly, within 24 business hours, rather than sending the part to shops we know are wrong. A clear no is more useful than three quotes from shops that cannot take it.
Can I ask for a specific region?
Yes, and on heavy parts it often matters more than anything else, because oversized freight can cost more than the machining. Pick a region on the RFQ form or leave it open and let us match on capability alone.
What happens to my drawing?
Shops first see a preview with no identity and no files. Your contact details and files go only to the shops that take the request, up to 3. If you tick the NDA box, we hold the files until the shop has signed one with you.
How do you decide which shops fit?
Table size and travel, rated table load, crane capacity, spindle and reach, the process steps the part needs, and the region you asked for. Capability first, every time. Shops do not buy their way to the front of the list.
That is the whole process.
If it fits how you buy, send the part. If you are a shop, tell us what your machines take.
